Springwood Winmalee Anglican Churches

People—Parish Council

In 2008, parish council consists of:

Wardens

Christ Church Warden

Michael Tonks Michael Tonks - CC 8am

  • The Tonkses have been regulars at Christ Church 8 am for over 30 years and I have been Rector's Warden for 15 years.
  • That position has now disappeared and I am Site Warden for Christ Church.
  • The salary is great. It doubles every year!

Ministry Centre Warden

David Lynch David Lynch

  • It’s better than just being a Pew sitter
  • I enjoy helping others and being involved in the decision making that goes with being part of Parish Council.
  • I have administrative skills and feel it is a good thing to use those skills in my parish. The Bible talks about the various gifts found in those who are part of the church in Corinthians 12:27 & 28 “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues”
  • At work I look after budgets, manage staff and a couple of buildings. I thought what trouble could I possibly get into managing just one more building in Springwood? So I said yes..

St Georges Warden

Wilfred StormWilfred Storm

  • This is my first year on Parish Council afer being asked to fill the position as Warden for the Winmalee site.
  • I have found this to be a great challenge and a real learning experience as I did not fully appreciate what the role and responsibilities of the Warden were.
  • It has been a real encouragement to me to experience the unity and the willingness of Parish Council members to serve our Lord in this capacity.

  • My presence on the Parish Council gives the grey haired brigade a voice in the life of SWAC.

  • Like many other ministry, SERVING on parish council is an opportunity to exercise our GOD given gifts by serving GOD'S people in this place.
  • Being a P.C. member allows me to be involved in my wider church family, also to be more aware of the bigger  parish picture.
  • Parish Council gives me the opportunity to be actively involved in the discussions and decisions that involve my Arvo church family.

  • PC Representative for Winmalee 8.00 am church family

  • My primary job is to represent the interests of the Winmalee 8.00 am congregation
  • I believe all able bodied people should be prepared to serve in various roles from time to time
  • Our clergy cannot do not do it all themselves and I am willing to support them whenever I can

  • What better way to serve not only my congregation but the church as a whole than this?
  • it is an honour to be able to help Gods church to reach out into the community and be a beacon of His grace and love and also to grow in both spiritually and in number, as well as the ability to ensure that we stay true to the teachings of Jesus.
  • I  thank God that he has put me in this position.
  • I'm looking forward to seeing where God takes this church, and also to being a part of that.
