SWAC missions week goes 8 days!
The Beatles sang that “8 day week is not enough to show I care”. I don’t think they had mission work in mind (!) but we’re having an 8 day missions week 28th June to 5th July because 7 days is not enough to show we care.
Special events include:
- 28th June visiting missionary speakers at all churches (ex. Winmalee)
- 28th June – Parish Multicultural lunch 11.45 to 1 pm at Ministry Centre (BYO lunch and share it), why not bring a meal that reflects your ethnic family background or the background of one of our SWAC Link missionaries. Our special lunch guests will be Rev Peter Lin from our sister Parish at Fairfield and Kate D (former SWAC member and 2009 Link Missio).
- 4th July Parish Missionary Prayer Breakfast at St George’s Winmalee 7.30 am breakfast 8-9 am. Prayer with special focus on CMS.
- 5th July visiting missionary speakers at all Winmalee churches
Note – all money given by our members on these two Sundays (including electronic giving) will go proportionally to our 11 Link Missions.
Next Missionary Task Force Meeting will be held at Graham Crew’s office at 3.30 pm Sunday 2nd August (members welcome)
SWAC Link Mission Overseas Council Australia
The National Director of OCA, Stuart Brooking, has been a member of SWAC for many years. Many members have individually supported OCA during this time. Our parish Mission Task Force and Parish Council has accepted OCA as one of our 3 new SWAC Link Missions. OCA doesn’t send “missionaries”. It provides scholarships for Bible College students and supports Bible Colleges in strategic places around the world. In 2009-2010, SWAC will be directing our OCA scholarship ($1800pa) to Charles Niyungeko who is a Burundian studying at Carlile College, Kenya. For details of Charles and OCA, please see our website and also the OCA display during our SWAC Missions Week (28th June to 5th July)
SWAC Link Mission Langham Partnership Australia
The National Director of LPA, Wendy Toulmin has also been a member of SWAC for years. Several other SWAC members also serve on the LPA Board. Our Parish also accepted LPA as a new SWAC Link Missions in 2009. During 2009-2010 SWAC will be supporting LP’s training of pastors in the South Pacific Islands.
