Using ROCK to transform teens
The Passion
I'm a nerd with a passion. My passion is to see every teenager knowing Jesus as their ROCK. This year I've been leading youth group, small bible study, leading, mentoring and coordinating music for a youth service on Sunday nights.
As a nerd I have been working full time at University of Western Sydney doing IT Support.
I see God is calling me into full time ministry. Next year I will be a missionary with Campus Crusade for Christ Australia (CCCA) in the Creative Arts Ministries (CRAM). I'm starting this as an intern which will allow me to see if this is where God wants me long term.
What is CCCA?
CCCA is a Christian organisation that started in America. It started off in universities evangelising to the students on campus. From there it has grown to be one of the biggest Christian organisations in the world. It has lots of different ministries. CCCA's mission is to “build spiritual movements everywhere so that everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus.”
A bit about CRAM
CRAM is a ministry arm of CCCA. CRAM started in 2004. CRAM's vision is to mobilize and empower creative artists to impact the world for Christ. CRAM wants to use the creative gifts God has given me and others to reach people who don't know about Jesus. I will be reaching teens in schools, using my gifts to gain their respect and presenting the gospel.
Rocking it up
I will be doing a 12 month Internship with CRAM. It involves me being part of a band that will tour schools around Australia. We will rock it up with the music but more importantly present Jesus as the true rock! During the concert the kids will fill out response cards that we will give to the local churches so they can follow the kids up.
I will be in a band. This gives me great access to schools around Australia. Teens love music. When they are happy, when they are sad they listen to music. God will be using the gifts He has given me to gain there respect with the music. Teens listen better when they are enjoying themselves.
God will be using me to spread the gospel. This will give them real hope. To tell them about Jesus the rock, the foundation that will not rot or be destroyed!
Jesus can return anytime. We need to continue spreading the Good News with urgency.
